Keynote speaker

Prof. Sonja Greven, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin

Dr. Sonja Greven is a full professor of Statistics at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin since 2019. Previous positions include associate professor and Emmy Noether junior research group leader (DFG funded) at LMU Munich as well as postdoctoral fellow at Johns Hopkins University, USA. Dr. Greven is spokesperson of the DFG funded AI research unit "Fusing Deep Learning and Statistics towards Understanding Structured Biomedical Data" and heads the joint commission for the Berlin-wide Master's program in Statistics. Her awards include the David P. Byar Young Investigator Award of the American Statistical Association, the Wolfgang-Wetzel-Award of the German Statistical Society and the Gustav-Adolf-Lienert-Award of the German Section of the International Biometric Society. Her research interests include functional and object data analysis, in particular statistical methods for functions, images, densities, compositions, shapes and graphs, as well as flexible regression methods.

Prof. Mark A. Engle, University of Texas

Dr. Mark Engle has been Professor in the Department of Earth, Environmental and Resource Sciences at the University of Texas at El Paso since 2019. He was first introduced to the principles of Compositional Data Analysis by Ricardo Olea during his 14-year long stint at the U.S. Geological Survey. Since attending his first CoDaWork workshop in 2011, he has strived to apply corresponding methods to better understand the composition and behavior of aqueous solutes and gases in the Earth’s subsurface and near surface. He is greatly indebted to the larger CoDA community for the amazing support that they have provided over the past ~15 years.
